Cost and Management Accountant – Manufacturing and Systems

Main Objective:

• To support both manufacturing and accounting functions within the business in terms of systems maximisation and availability of accurate management information. Primary Responsibilities: Reporting to the Finance Director, the key activities and responsibilities of the Manufacturing and Costing Systems Controller include:

• Maintain and monitor all purchasing and stock information on Navision, ensuring the accuracy of this data (but not inputting) in respect of booking in goods and ensuring the pricing on POs and stock units of measure are correct;
• Maintain information to run the MRP system including sensible forecasts to predict future material requirements;
• Develop and maintain the costing system to ensure accuracy of prices and quantities used, plus the correct structures of BOMs;
• Maintain and monitor standing data for stocked parts – lead times, safety stocks, EOQs – and ensure the information is available on the system to enable the correct delivery of stocks;
• Solve any queries relating to stock levels and stock usage on the system, including investigating and correcting any negative stock levels and the causes of such;
• Liaise with the Engineering Manager, Project Engineer and any other relevant personnel to ensure that all data is entered onto the system correctly for any projects (parts, BOMs, costs, suppliers, purchasing UOMs, etc.) and is updated when necessary as the project progresses;
• Develop systems to provide more detailed information, e.g. production volumes and costing data by product or product group;
• Assist with general accounting tasks, e.g. VAT returns, month end and year end accounts, etc.
• Any other duties or responsibilities that may reasonably be required from time to time.

Key Requirements:

• Proven manufacturing and accounting systems experience gained within a manufacturing environment;
• Experience in implementation of ERP systems and a good understanding of different costing methods and costing and manufacturing systems integration, plus ability to ensure correct and effective use of available functionality and to develop reporting;
• Organised, thorough, methodical and accurate, with very high attention to detail and able to work independently on own initiative;
• Flexible, helpful and hands-on approach, willing to take on all necessary tasks, coupled with good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels;
