Cost Controller Corporate Solutions

Analysis:

Responsible for the analysis and reporting of actual expenses compared to plan (target) / projection at a global cost center, department, management unit and divisional level. Support Client Markets requests for key drivers/details of variances
Prepare monthly standard department reporting packages Expense Report / General Ledger Report /Account Executive TE Report) by scheduled monthly due date
Prepare monthly standard divisional management report including variance commentary by scheduled monthly due date
Prepare quarterly standard department management reports including variance commentary by scheduled quarterly due date

Planning:

Coordinate and drive all plan (target) / projection exercises on behalf of the division, departments and global cost centers working with Global Cost Controlling, Human Resources, FPA Managers, Unit Leaders, DOO, CFO CEO
Ensure that the division submits a plan (target) that is approved by Swiss Re by the scheduled quarterly due date including formal sign-off by the DOO or CEO
Reconcile HR headcount to the plan (target) / projection by department global cost center prior to the plan (target) / projection due date

Headcount/Organization:

Monthly map HR OU layers to global cost centers working with HR by the monthly due date
Support all ad-hoc requests for all matters related to Corporate Solutions non-technical expenses headcount in terms versus the plan (target) / projection
Maintain the organizational structure signing authority related to the departments global cost centers within the division

Projects:

Represent Corporate Solutions in the projects ensuring that all carrier and divisional actual reporting needs are taken into consideration prior to building final solution
Support the implementation of the new allocation models assist in ensuring a complete understanding in terms of both divisional carrier expenses and divisional management expenses
Identify projects that may be subject to capitalization and ensure they are properly identified and accounted for in the financial statements

Other:

Support questions related to the allocation process after it is decommissioned at year end 2011, including any questions related to divisional management expenses. Ensure Corporate Solutions allocations are transparent and fair
Manipulate and translate data into meaningful divisional and MU reporting
Prepare and ensure attendees who are representing Corporate Solutions have the materials and information needed to adequately participate in the annual expense day sessions
Provide backup for any carrier related or divisional cost controller related activities in times of need
Update team regarding Corporate Solutions non-technical expenses -deliverables, issues, projects, etc. on the weekly call
Analyze and recommend potential expense savings within Corporate Solutions within Swiss Re

University degree or higher education degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent
5+ years of progressive finance background including Cost Controlling experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to inspire and challenge others
Capable of building trust with all areas of the business
Solid analytical skills with the ability to deliver quality output on short deadlines and manage details without losing site of the big picture
Demonstrate personal accountability for area of responsibility
Proficiency in MS Excel, Powerpoint, and preferably Access
