We are currently seeking a Cost Engineer for our New York City Fisher-Price Friends Office.
Primary Responsibilities:
' Individual will be responsible for cost estimating the entire product line for assigned categories or teams.
' Assist Design, Product Engineering and Marketing in arriving at product designs which satisfy both play value and cost target objectives.
' Provide both product design and manufacturing alternative options to reduce material and/or labor costs to accomplish overall product objectives.
' Participate in Pre-Final Product Review meetings to ensure that all new project Cost Estimating requirements are being met, and discuss next steps for each new product. Develop new product cost estimates from design concepts, sketches, foam models and one-on-one discussions to assist Design, Engineering and Marketing and Senior V.P. Team Leaders in Final Product Review activities.
' Assist Operations Sourcing in determining product sourcing plans.
' Provide cost estimates in alternative manufacturing sources as required. This requires a working knowledge of the differences in tool plans, mold cycles, mold costs, etc. between commonly used manufacturing sources to ensure that the respective product cost estimates are accurate and reflect source-specific practices.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
' Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline (BSME, BSIE, BTME OR BSIT) or related area (or equivalent).
' 2-3 years of experience in engineering disciplines. Consumer product development and manufacturing experience is a strong plus.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
' Prior experience in cost estimating is a strong plus.
' Strong creative problem solving skills; strong solution orientation.
' Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
' Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; ability to build strong professional relationships.
' Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite.
' Solid business judgment
' Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask projects without missing critical deadlines.
