The primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate plant operations in delinting, cleaning, treating, and bagging of bulk cottonseed and assist with directing all aspects of rebagging carryover bagged cottonseed to achieve daily weekly and annual seed processing goals set forth by Cotton Supply Chain while producing a quality product for Bayer CropScience customers.

 

The incumbent will:

 

        Oversee day to day operations in packaging and delinting plant;

        Maintain dryer temperatures and the monitoring of delinting equipment;

        Set and maintain gravity tables and seed cleaners;

        Manage the plant monitoring programs and follow SOP’s;

        Operate and manage automatic seed samplers to make sure seed counts are accurate;

        Oversee day to day seed count and packaging operation in plant;

        Manage variety cleans to insure they meet SOP’s;

        Maintain good housekeeping practices and follow safety rules;

        Monitor seed quality (Immatures, Cracks, and Seed Color);

        Coordinate general repairs, baggers, treater, and pallatizer during the season and during maintenance off season;

        Assist in all inventory counts of chemicals, bags, and raw goods;

        Assist in other areas of the site as needed.

 

The selected candidate is required to possess the following:

 

        High school diploma or equivalent;

        3+ years of working experience in cotton production, ginning, seed conditioning and/or manufacturing environment;

        Maintenance and mechanical knowledge/abilities as well as problem solving skills;

        Knowledge of plant equipment so troubleshooting gives proper response to mechanical failure;

        Critical and logical thinking skills to plan for future plant needs;

        Ability to calculate bushel weights, seed counts and tare analysis;

        Proficient organizational skills and demonstrated team-oriented abilities;

        Ability to direct employees on day-to-day operations and effectively communicate instructions;

        Provide leadership in managing plant personnel to meet plant operational goals;

        Ability to adjust to different job settings within the site;

        General knowledge of OSHA safety regulations;

        Ability to lift 50 lb bags;

        Previous forklift experience;

        Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word;

        Ability to work shifts since there is potential for cyclical shift work from September to May.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

        Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Agronomics Business or related discipline;

        4+ years of working experience in cotton production, ginning, seed conditioning and/or manufacturing environment;

        Direct seed warehouse management is a strong plus;

        Prior supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution center.
