The Credit Risk Management (CRM) function of FRBNY is currently seeking a credit analyst to provide support to senior analysts of Counterparty Credit Risk Team (CCR), which is responsible for overseeing the Bank??s credit risk exposures arising from extensions of intraday credit, Discount Window lending, special lending arrangements, and foreign and domestic open market trading activity. In addition to assessing and monitoring credit risk of the Bank's counterparties, CCR is also responsible for coordinating and implementing appropriate controls to mitigate the Bank??s risk exposures. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow and contribute to a highly visible risk management function at the Bank.
Responsibilities
Support senior analysts in credit surveillance of depository institutions across second district of Federal Reserve System. Specifically, the credit analyst will be responsible for the following functions:
- Provide timely update of financial spreadsheets, bank composites and key credit metrics for assigned portfolios. Maintain financial models to support ongoing analysis
- Assist in the monitoring of financial condition, company-specific issues, supervisory and rating actions as well as market developments. Report significant changes or emerging risk issues that may warrant heightened monitoring or risk controls
- Develop familiarity with the foreign banks portfolio and deepen knowledge of higher risk institutions or geographies in order to better focus risk monitoring
- Assist in the implementation of risk controls. Develop experience with internal risk systems
- Assist in the periodic review of FRBNY??s potential exposures to portfolio banks, including daylight caps, discount window borrowing capacity and collateral information
- Conduct audit checks to ensure data quality. Resolve critical data issues that may have an impact on credit decisions
- Maintain credit files, including documentation of risk decisions and meeting reports
- Contribute to risk management initiatives, special projects and ad hoc requests
Skills
Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in business, finance or economics
- 2-5 years of experience in supporting the credit analysis and monitoring of depository institutions. Prior experience in foreign bank credits is a plus
- Proficient in MS Office, with particular strength in Excel. Working knowledge of BankScope, SNL as well as credit research and information systems
- Knowledge of banking industry and regulation, with good understanding of banking environment desirable
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and work ethics; able to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work well in a team environment
- Good follow-through skills; well organized and attention to detail
