Counterparty Risk Reporting and Control Analyst

Job Description:

 

Capital Markets Counterparty Credit Risk Reporting and Control Analyst will be part of the team that is responsible for the preparation of counterparty credit analysis and ongoing credit risk management oversight of a portfolio of ‘orphan’ counterparties including banks, REIT’s, insurance companies, corporations,, municipalities and SPVs.  These counterparties are and will be engaging in trading and other capital markets activities with SunTrust Bank.

 

The primary function of this position is to monitor and report credit exposure created by trading activity and ensure compliance with approved limits. Other primary responsibilities include managing the exceptions management process, maintaining the Orphan Counterparty database and assisting with various  reporting and projects as needed.

 

This person will play a key role in helping to assess and manage the risks (particularly credit risk) in those lines of business within the Capital Markets area, including Derivatives, Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income trading.  Responsibilities include calculating, reporting and reviewing counterparty exposure; ensuring that all trades have proper credit approval and are within approved limits; acting promptly to resolve and document any exceptions; monitoring daily trading activities and maintaining regular contact with traders and sales people to ensure that policies and procedures are followed.  This position will also be involved in implementing new technology solutions to assist in these responsibilities, as well as other special projects.  There is frequent interaction with systems, operations, legal, credit areas, market risk, and front office staff to ensure that transactions are properly assessed, booked, approved and monitored.  The person will also be expected to use critical thinking skills to identify issues and take action to correct, improve, simplify or discontinue processing to make the department more efficient and effective.

 

 

Minimum: Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently. Strong written and oral communication skills. Analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills. Familiarity with derivatives and other capital markets  products preferred.

Technical skills required: Experience in MS Office; Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills preferred, must have experience with vlookups, pivot tables and complex spreadsheets; intermediate PowerPoint skills. Database skills are preferable.

 

Education, Certifications and Licenses BA/BS required.
