We are looking for a highly skilled individual to join our Corporate Ratings group as an analyst at Associate or Rating Specialist level, based in either our London or Moscow office (Other locations will also be considered, i.e. Frankfurt/Paris). The individual will join the corporate ratings team covering issuers in the Transportation and Infrastructure sector. An understanding of complex corporate and whole business structures would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to undertake rigorous analytical work and will be proficient at doing research and writing analytical reports with a track record of fundamental analysis. An industry expertise in the transportation sector would be preferable, but not essential. An ability to quickly absorb, analyze and act upon information is required, as well as a flexible and positive attitude to supporting the wider corporate ratings team if and when required.
The individual will be comfortable in an environment which stimulates continuous improvement and innovation, and the highest customer service standards whilst adhering to established ratings criteria, methodology, policies and procedures. The individual will be able to demonstrate analytical excellence, and maintain and enhance the quality and timeliness of our analysis. Moreover, you must demonstrate an ability to represent Standard Poor's in a highly professional manner to both issuers and global investors. You will be required to prepare and perform meetings with multi-national, senior management teams to extract and assess information relating to credit quality and to explain our credit rating opinions. Strong presentation and organizational skills are also required to present detailed information and reasoned opinions to our credit rating committees.
Due to the nature of the role, strong written and oral communication skills in English (and Russian for the Moscow based role) are essential.
Core Responsibilities and Job Functions
- Perform credit analysis by demonstrating the ability to understand and identify key factors that affect an issuer's credit rating.
- Analyze original, non-routine complex business problems on a timely, orderly and insightful manner.
- Attend meetings and interact with senior management of corporations to obtain information upon which to base credit rating decisions.
- Present findings and opinions to a credit rating committee.
- Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly pick up credit surveillance on a rating portfolio of about 15 credits
- Develop and maintain an understanding of industry trends and issues.
- Participate actively in publishing and investor outreach activities.
- Be an analytical role model for junior analysts.
- Maintain integrity of analytical or compliance related databases as appropriate
Skills
- Preferably have at least 4 years experience of working in a rating agency, large commercial bank, investment bank, investing institution or an audit company working in the field of credit analysis of multinational corporations
- Educated to degree level in a relevant business related field, a relevant Masters degree, CFA or financial qualification would be desirable
- Fluent in English (and Russian, for the Moscow based role); other languages would be an advantage
- Strong analytical skills in particular with reference to the ability to interpret and use financial models as well as to analyze legal documentation
- Numerate and accurate with figures and detail orientated with the ability to maintain accuracy whilst complying with deadlines
- An ability to prepare forecasts for companies based upon reasoned assumptions will be required
- Possess solid communication skills, verbal and written, as well as the capacity to expand, learn and to make a contribution
- Computer literate having strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint application skills.
