Credit Analyst – Energy recruitment

Responsibilities:

Counterparty assessment - analysing counterparties' credit worthiness in order to recommend appropriate credit limits and managing credit support (PCGs, LCs etc) where necessary.  Regular renewal and continuous monitoring of counterparty status.
Counterparty maintenance - developing and maintaining relationships with counterparties including support in negotiating trading documentation and maximising the credit lines extended to the company.
Credit support provision - identifying the requirements for credit support for exchanges, operators and certain new business activities (not core trading) and evaluating and procuring the most cost-effective forms of credit support. 
Credit reporting and control - routine reporting of credit exposure and risk measures, and anticipation and management of breaches and exceptions.
For the more senior role you will also have responsibility for Staff development - overview of the work of the more junior members of the team and assistance in their on the job training and development.

General responsibilities:

Build and maintain strong internal relationships across all business and support functions and ensure close liaison with other members of the risk management team.
Assist Head of Credit in development of the Credit Risk function including counterparty assessment tools, advanced exposure and risk measures and development and documentation of credit risk management policies and procedures.
 

Candidate Specification:

Degree level education. Finance or numerate subject preferred.
Experience as a Credit Analyst/Senior Credit Analyst either within an energy company, bank or rating agency (essential)
Experience of and familiarity with the energy/commodity trading markets (particularly natural gas, power, oil, carbon allowances and LNG) is an advantage.
Experience in the following fields would be considered an advantage; financial markets and products; credit risks related to to financial and physical forward contracts; credit instruments and their applications areas.
Understanding of the key elements of Credit Risk Management with an emphasis on credit assessment gained in a commodity trading or commercial banking environment (this is essential - please only apply if you have strong credit analysis experience)
Experience of commercial lending and credit assessment, along with knowledge of energy markets and types of energy and financial products and their risks.
Ability to produce accurate credit papers and reports within tight deadlines.
Understanding of risk reports (e.g. Value at Risk, Economic Capital) and their role within corporate governance, with a particular ability to produce credit risk exposure reports.
Experience with specialised risk management, statistics, and data handling software would be an advantage.
Fluent in English. Other language skills would be a benefit.
