Growing Investment Management firm seeks highly motivated junior fixed income credit analyst with 0-3 years experience. A quantitative (finance, mathematics, engineering, etc) college/masters degree required if candidate has no relevant work experience. Role will require fundamental credit analysis, including in depth analysis of company financial statements and conducting industry research on multiple sectors, with an emphasis on the Financials Sector. Additional responsibilities may progress rapidly and will include generating investment ideas and assisting portfolio managers in portfolio construction, relative value analysis and other aspects of day to day portfolio management including assistant trader responsibilities. Direct trading responsibilities for client portfolios are a likely progression over time.
Ideal candidate will have Financial Services sector experience (emphasis on banks and insurance) and/or experience analyzing Corporate Bonds and Preferred Securities. Candidates should be proficient in basic fixed income concepts and demonstrate a strong attention to detail. The ability to work well in a small team environment and having strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Bloomberg is required. Additional skills related to VB/VBA programming in Excel or other programming experience a plus, but not required. Having, or in process of obtaining a CFA or MBA a definite plus. Series 65 must be obtained within 90 days of commencement of employment.
