Deputy Chief Underwriter - Correspondent
The Correspondent Division purchases loans from other Mortgage Lenders in the United States. This is a delegated channel, where we are purchasing closed loans. Files are underwritten, closed in the lenders name then sent to us for purchase. The Underwriting department reviews the files to determine if they adhere to the GSE's policies along with our internal credit policies.
- Provide senior credit managerial direction in multiple sites for all aspects of mortgage
- Provide product development assistance from a risk management perspective.
- Manage effectively the overall underwriting of lending under CMI Credit Policies guidelines.
- Manage to volume and expense budgets.
- Supervise, direct and motivate staff consisting of Credit Managers and Risk Management Experts. Provide credit philosophy oversight to underwriter managers and line underwriters. Ensure adequate training and performance feedback.

- Identify quality issues with our Correspondents
- Develop and Implement action plans specifically for our Correspondent
- Ensure effective implementation of CMI policy and procedural requirements as determined and communicated by the Director of Credit and Risk Management and Credit Training and Credit Authority. This includes ensuring that Fraud Training requirements have been met by all underwriters have received Fraud Training
- Assure the accurate, timely and satisfactory resolution of all reviews (2nd signatures, all declines) and other issues as determined by quality control, investor reviews, internal or external audits or regulatory reviews.
- Maintain a current and thorough understanding of mortgage fraud detection techniques. Implement underwriting strategies to prevent misrepresentation.
- Maintain a current and thorough familiarity with CMI's Credit Policy Guidelines including GSE policies.
Skills
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required. A minimum of 10 years credit/underwriting experience to include the management of personnel.

This position requires the employee to register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry ("Registry") and obtain a unique identifier from the Registry before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities, to maintain and renew that registration on an annual basis, to update registration information with the Registry on a timely basis, and to provide that unique identifier to consumers as required by applicable SAFE Act regulations and Citi policies and procedures.
