Credit Manager

Position Description

Credit Manager position will report into the Managing Director of Wealth Management Credit Risk for the U.S. broker-dealer. This position will be the Deputy Head of Credit and one of three Divisional Credit Managers.

Candidate will be responsible for managing a team of credit professionals covering retail clients handled by Financial Advisors (FAs) in the Midwest/Southern Division. Other responsibilities include: managing credit approval and the daily exception monitoring for securities based margin loans, listed options, futures/fx, short market trades and repo transactions. Candidate should possess a demonstrable knowledge base of all major financial markets product areas including listed and OTC derivative markets, structured and alternative investments, and should be familiar with how these products are treated in credit risk management frameworks.

He or she should have solid work experience dealing with various degrees of product stress testing, Bloomberg risk analytics, risk reporting models, duration analysis of fixed-income collateral, securities pricing models as well as a thorough working knowledge of the U.S. regulatory environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities require regularly interfacing with FAs, Complex/Branch Managers, Regional/Divisional Directors, Business Risk, Legal and Compliance/AML units, as well as credit counterparts within Tailored Lending and MS Private Bank.

The Credit Manager will lead and/or support the Head of Credit on various high priority work streams including working with the Business Unit in establishing lending parameters and credit policies and procedures for new products.

Candidate will be required to travel to various branches within his/her region a few times a year to meet with FAs and/or clients. In the absence of the Head of Credit, individual would chair the weekly U.S. Transaction Approval Committee and represent the department as otherwise required.

Skills Required

Candidate should have a Bachelor's degree. An MBA in Business Administration, Finance or Quantitative Analysis preferred and 15+ years of credit experience working at a brokerage or banking institution

Candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to lead projects and work streams and successfully interact with senior members of management.
