Job Description:

The Clarks Companies, N.A. is seeking a Credit Manager for our Canadian office in Oakville, Ontario. The Credit Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the credit function supporting Clarks Canada,  including the management of a credit team in the Canada office. This includes reviewing, establishing and monitoring customer credit lines, all collection activity, maintaining the highest level of customer service and working with all other departments in support of achieving the business plan.

 

Essential Functions:

·         Manage the daily activity of the Credit Department, including all aspects of establishing and monitoring customer credit lines, reviewing customer order activity and maintaining the level of communication necessary to adequately assess risk in the accounts portfolio. There are currently 850 active accounts along with a portfolio ranging seasonally between $15,000,000 to $30,000,000.

·         Manage all customer collection activity including, as needed, customer workouts, payment plans, and customers that require special attention. This will require close, timely communications with the operations and sales teams to appropriately manage risk in the order book.

·         Perform some complex financial analysis of large creditors to establish appropriate credit lines and support business plans for strategic customers. Pre-season planning is necessary to identify gaps between sales objectives and credit capacity.

·         Oversee activity in the accounts portfolio to identify payment problems, chargebacks, violations to ensure that the operations are adequately meeting customer requirements and that the company is responding to the needs of our customers.

·         Responsible for effective and timely communications to customers - internal and external - in support of overall business goals and strategies. While direct line reporting will be to Customer Financial Services in the US, close working relationships in the local office is essential. This role supports the local management team.

 

Qualifications:

·         Thorough knowledge of financial statement analysis.

·         Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·         A passion to serve customers is essential.

·         Bi-Lingual: English and French.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Business.

·         5-8 years of work experience.

·         3-5 years of supervisory/management experience.
