Credit Risk Analyst
Incumbents are responsible for authoring credit analysis documents required in the establishment and renewal of counterparty credit limits, analyzing and reviewing financial information pertinent to potential and/or existing borrowers/counterparties where the organization is considering secured/unsecured lending or trading relationships, and participating in the authorization of credit exposure related to traditional or complex financing activities.
The primary function of this role will be preparing written credit risk reviews on the bank's hedge fund counterparties.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing fundamental counterparty credit risk analysis and assigning internal credit ratings on hedge funds, and possibly structured products counterparties (to include CDOs, CLOs and asset backed commercial paper programs)
- Preparing and presenting analysis in written format
- Monitoring market, regulatory, macro economic and political developments and assessing their impact on the credit quality of counterparties
- Participating in or leading client due diligence visits/calls
Responsibilities may potentially evolve to include:
- Liaising with Legal department to ensure identified risks are adequately addressed in the legal documentation for structured transactions and setting credit terms in the legal documentation (e.g. ISDA and CSA) for flow trading activity
- Assessing proposed transactions within the context of the transaction structure to ensure structural risks are properly identified and adequately mitigated
- Performing on-going monitoring of complex deals so that any early signs of distress or deviation from the expected performance are promptly identified
- Liaising with Credit Risk Control and Risk Analytics and Reporting departments to ensure that the exposures are adequately reflected in the risk systems
- Performing general problem solving for any issues arising in relation to counterparties in the portfolio
