Purpose of the Role

Development, management enforcement of credit policy, procedures and processes for Coutts Asia. Work closely with Credit Risk teams in Zurich London as well as Business units in Asia to strive for constant improvement of our Credit risk framework policies to enhance our credit risk management capabilities as well as support Business growth development.

Key Accountabilities

• To ensure that all credit policies are maintained in line with Coutts, Wealth Management and RBS Group requirements. Also to ensure all HO local regulations legal requirements are duly complied for Asia’s credit business operations.

• Review approve Credit requests/transactions within delegated credit competence in full accordance with policies.

• To provide credit input/recommendations on new banking products.

• To ensure that credit documentation remains fully fit for purpose, in conjunction with Legal Services.

• Act as key manager cum co-ordinator for all Asia credit initiatives projects (including audit issues) by leading such efforts actively tracking progress completion of such initiatives within agreed timeframe.

• To maintain the Coutts Asia Credit Risk Intranet site, ensuring it is regularly updated and relevant to the business needs.

• Production of relevant management information at an Asian level for all necessary Committees/Forums. Active credit portfolio management analysis.

• Delivery of training to new and existing staff in relation to credit policies and processes.

• To provide credit input to projects as and when required. 

• Effective management of Asia credit policy, procedures and processes.

• Active involvement in credit aspects of product development.

• Prudent effective credit risk management including efficient credit processing in credit requests review approvals.

• Undertaking specific credit related transaction approvals projects.

• Assist in the development and delivery of robust and timely risk reporting.

• Ensure that Coutts Asia provides a competitive credit product offering consistent with Wealth Management and RBS Group risk appetite.

The Individual:

• Knowledge and understanding of Private Banking credit, policies, processes and procedures.

• Ability to prepare accurate and focused written reports.

• Strong analytical and technical skills with an ability to apply in a practical and balanced manner.

• Working knowledge of Banking laws and regulations.

• Good knowledge of IT systems and high level of general IT skills.

• Ability to work as part of a small, highly motivated credit team combined with strong interpersonal skills.

• Good presentation communication skills with an eye for details. Work well under pressure and tight timelines.
