Credit Risk Management Trading Desk Officer
Job Description:
The primary function of this position is to monitor and report credit exposure created by trading activity and ensure compliance with approved limits. This person will play a key role in helping to assess and manage the risks (particularly credit risk) within the Capital Markets area, including Fixed Income Derivatives, Equity Derivatives, Foreign Exchange, Repo and Fixed Income trading. Responsibilities include calculating, reporting and reviewing counterparty exposure; ensuring that all trades have received the necessary credit approvals and are operating within approved limits; acting promptly to resolve and document any limit violations and exceptions; monitoring daily trading activities and maintaining regular contact with traders and sales staff to ensure that policies and procedures are followed. The position will also entail approval of trading documents (ISDA, CSA's, MSFTA's, MRA's and MSLA's). This position will also be involved in implementing new technology solutions to assist in these responsibilities, as well as other special projects. This position also serves as a resource for client managers throughout the bank who may require guidance when setting new credit limits for counterparties, understanding risk methodologies etc.and explaining the risks of Capital Markets Products. There is frequent interaction with personnel from multiple departments and roles (sales trading front office staff, legal, credit areas, market risk, regulators systems, operations etc.) to ensure that transactions are properly assessed, booked, approved and monitored, and as such, in order to be successful, this person must have excellent communication skill to manage the various client objectives
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in MS Office, especially Excel and various trading systems such as Calypso, Imagine, Wall Street Office
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work independently
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Finance background with a minimum of four to five years relevant experience in either a risk management or capital markets capacity
- Analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience in derivatives and/or other supported products preferred
- Credit training desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of ISDA, CSA's, MSFTA's, MRA's and MSLA's is highly preferable
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, be detail-oriented and respond well under short timelines
- Undergraduate degree required and Masters degree preferred, CFA designation preferred
