Credit Risk Specialist (Loans & Derivatives) – Executive Director recruitment
Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced credit professional at the Executive Director level. The successful candidate will have experience in managing a counterparty portfolio, in structuring transactions to reduce risk and sanctioning loans. The credit risk specialist will also be expected to provide input into credit policy issues and lead project teams.
Key Responsibilities Deliverables:
- Manage the firm’s EMEA loan portfolio, identify risk themes and recommend risk appetite and strategies
- Interact with key stakeholders in investment banking, capital markets, credit committee members, market risk managers and portfolio managers
- Analyse all credit aspects of debt proposals, including macroeconomic, systemic, regulatory, jurisdictional, market and business risk, as well as transaction value proposition. Using the results of the analysis, assign risk ratings and size risk appetite and approve exposures
- Recommend transaction structures, make clear recommendations to credit commitment committee on each loan proposal
- Provide periodic reporting on the risks in the loan portfolio, adjust/size risk appetite/limits, highlight trends, make presentation to senior risk officers
Skills Required:
• Extensive experience in credit analysis across sectors gained in a top tier investment bank. Exposure to underwriting leveraged buyouts is essential
• Knowledge/understanding of key economic and political drivers in the EMEA region
• Knowledge in RAROC, Basel III capital treatment of loans
• Familiar with risks associated with derivatives, FX, interest rate products
• Familiar with legal documentation and risk issues, including LMA loan documents, ISDAs, CSAs, netting and credit risk mitigating features
• Credit sanctioning authority is a must. Superior, verifiable track record of deals approved/declined
• Professional certifications (CFA, CPA. etc.) or MBA are strongly desired

• Ability to defend credit decisions, persuade and gain respect from bankers
• Fluency in English plus one European language would be an advantage
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues globally
