Credit Risk Specialist recruitment
Since its formation in 1969, National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (or CFC) of Dulles, Virginia has provided loan and investment solutions to rural electric cooperative utilities and their affiliates throughout the United States.
We have a great opportunity in our Credit Risk Management Group for a Credit Risk Specialist. Reporting to the Vice President of Credit Risk Management this position conducts credit and risk analysis, prepares reports in support of the group’s portfolio management and credit services functions, and works with business line account managers to identify, evaluate and resolve potential problem borrower situations.
Essential Functions include:
Conduct analysis, identify trends and prepare reports to management on credit quality and performance statistics of loan and guarantee portfolios.
- Provide support to business line account managers in identifying and evaluating potential problem borrower situations and recommending solutions to mitigate credit risk.
- Prepare credit profiles, with action plans, on assigned borrowers subject to quarterly review by Credit Committee. Perform financial analysis, identify credit strengths/weaknesses, confirm appropriateness of risk ratings and develop appropriate recommendations.
- Spread borrower financial data using Moody’s software for inclusion in credit recommendation packages, credit profiles and repository for reporting application.
- Serve as application owner and subject matter expert for Moody’s spreading software and related reporting application.
- Conduct research and studies using industry and peer group data and ratios to assess credit quality, borrower risk and probable default.
- Obtain working knowledge of key credit policies and practices in order to respond to questions from business line account managers and portfolio managers.
Education and Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
- 5 years of experience in lending or credit administration unit of a major bank, financial institution or financial services company.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in underwriting commercial loans.
- Completion of a credit training program.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with financial spreading software and developing financial forecasts/models.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and computer software skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a professional environment.
