CRNA FOR MGH ORTHOPAEDIC ASC (Waltham, MA)

General Overview ****** This position is for 32 hours per week ****** Reviews patients medical history. In collaboration with supervisors determines appropriate type of anesthetic to be used. Prepares and evaluates the safety of anesthetic equipment, supplies and drugs. Conducts the induction and maintenance of anesthesia under the direction of appointed supervisor. Administer general (intravenous / inhalation) and regional anesthesia. Monitors the life support functions of patient during period of anesthesia, or surgery as needed. Assesses, interprets and treats physiologic responses to anesthesia that include oxygenation, circulation and ventilation . Keeps supervisor informed of patient's condition. Records pertinent information concerning anesthetic course on patients clinical chart . Provides observation and care in immediate post operative period until a report of pertinent information has been given to and responsibility for patient accepted by the RN or MD covering the appropriate recovery area. Responsible for supplying documentation of continued registration as a CRNA. Qualifications Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists are licensed, registered, advanced practice nurses who have completed a post graduate certificate or a master's degree in anesthesia. Nurse anesthetists must become certified by successfully completing a national qualifying examination in the specialty of anesthesia. To maintain their license to practice anesthesia, CRNAs must be recertified biannually by attending 40 contact hours of continuing education programs.
