Cross Asset Finance Trainee
Context
The Cross Asset Finance (“CAF”) team is part of the Cross Structuring Group (“CSG”) in the Markets Solutions team at SG. The team focuses on providing structuring and financing solutions to a range of financial and corporate clients seeking or providing financing. We develop solutions that enable clients to source financing at attractive rates through placement of various forms of collateral such as bonds, equities, loans and ABS, and also provide attractive investment opportunities for clients wishing to invest their funds in low risk and collateralised products. The team spans Paris, London, New York and Asia. We are currently looking to offer a six month internship opportunity to the successful candidate in our London Office.
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join the team and be expected to contribute to its function from day one. (S)he will work for other team members in London and Paris to coordinate, market and help execute various cross asset financing transactions. S(he) will also liaise with, on a regular basis, the sales force, traders and other pricing and structuring teams to ensure all their requests are answered and help them to market our products to their clients. In particular, the role shall involve:
- Maintaining updated list of the deal pipeline and interests
- Take minutes in various internal and external meetings
- Coordinating requests and questions from the sales force
- Maintaining and updating all marketing materials including term sheets and presentations, and help develop new ones
- Liaising with traders to ensure regular updates on pricing of financing transactions on different asset classes such as loans, ABS and corporate bonds
- Helping the CAF team to structure and execute transactions which may including financial modelling, documentation and liaising with middle and back office teams to aid efficient settlement.
- Provide help and resource to the wider CSG team as and when required
Requirements
In order to be able to fulfil the role effectively, the successful candidate will ideally have most, if not all, of the following qualifications/skills/attributes:
- Good working knowledge of financial risk (primarily including market and credit)
- Be well versed in financial markets, including knowledge of different asset classes, pricing theory, stress testing and understand credit and rate derivatives
- Be able to adapt his or her knowledge to different situations and be able to think creatively in applying it to various opportunities that may arise
- Be personable and a good communicator. The candidate will be working in a team, and be expected to build relationships with traders, the sales force and other pricing and structuring teams, and therefore needs to have a proactive and team spirit approach.
- Have strong interest in structuring and the structured financial markets
- Good knowledge of accounting impacts of financial transactions will be advantageous
- Experience of collateralised financing structures (such as repos and TRS) will be advantageous
