Alexander Black Recruitment is urgently looking for a CTO to join our high profile client.
Our client is the world leader in Commodities trading and risk management software.
As the CTO you will sit on the management team with line management responsibility for 60 people. You will have 2 development managers, a head of BA and a head of Architecture reporting to you with budgetary responsibility in the millions. You sit on the Board of directors and report directly to the CEO.
The backbone to this role is change management and development progression ,the client is looking to increase the quality of their products and bring their name to the top of the market.
Their current pipeline has a number of exciting new products and individuals who have a real interest in software development and financial services have a unique opportunity to influence future development.
This is an operational role as such there will be international travel to development offices abroad but the incumbent will be based in the offices in London. (Offices Russia, Kuala Lumpur and Europe)
On a day to day basis you will be responsible for
- Responsible for the management and successful execution of technical projects and key client software deliverables
- Ownership of the product road map
- Provide day-to-day management and strategic direction for a growing team of technical and functional people
- Oversee and coordinate the operational aspects of ongoing technical projects and serve as liaison between project management and planning, project-team, and line management.
- Work under consultative direction toward predetermined goals and objectives, and plan and budget for all software related objectives of the company
- Ensure that all resources required to support the developments are identified and tracked to achieve cost, schedule and performance requirements
- Translate broad vision provided by senior management for clients and the company into executable plans for action.
- Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem-solving with client services managers and directly with clients
- Serve as organizational spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs and helps to maintain an affective image of the organization's technological capability
- Act as advisor to management and staff on advanced technical research studies and applications, and stay abreast of new technologies and trends
Candidates must have
- Serious line management experience
- Serious commercial experience of financial software
- An understanding of SAAS Architectures
- Hands on experience of software development and the development lifecycle
- (10 years +) of achieving results in a software development or related technology area in the banking or banking software sector with responsibility for a large development group
- Excellent project management skills, including capacity planning, budgeting, and conflict management, and the ability to impart these skills to others
- Hands on exposure to Java-Linux-Oracle technology stack
- Ability to plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and modify programs, informational support systems, and processes
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
- Ability to develop and implement strategic business and operating plans
Candidates should have had experience across the DSLC and experience of distributed applications via the SAAS deployment model.
