Silverado Senior Living is looking for an experienced full-time Director of Culinary Services to join our culinary team!
This position is located in Bellingham, WA.
The general responsibilities will include:
• Manages the preparation of all food service including: quality, quantity, presentation, temperature, etc. and assures that the cycle menu is adhered to and posted.
• Trains culinary staff in Company Policy and Procedures, dietary guidelines, food preparation and handling, documentation and preparation of reports.
• Coordinates with food purchasing agent to obtain food and supplies. Accepts and verifies deliveries and ensures food is properly stored.
• Works with members of the Community leadership team to plan and prepare food for special events.
• Cooks as necessary and as needed. • Researches recipes for appropriateness of preparation to serve to the community.
• Complies with all local, state and federal health regulations.
• Schedules Associates to participate in monthly in-service education programs and participates in management meetings.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and background:
• High school diploma, GED or educational equivalent required. A.A. degree in culinary arts preferred.
• Food Safety Certification (ServSafe or equivalent).
• Five years’ experience managing the preparation of therapeutic and mechanically altered diets, within a health care environment.
• Strong verbal communication skills in order to facilitate conversations with staff, residents and family members.
• Two years of experience supervising others to include: setting performance expectations, coaching, motivating, promoting collaboration and teamwork, managing change, providing performance feedback, delegating effectively, resolving conflicts, etc.
• Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record, and current auto insurance.
