Duties and Responsibilities:
The role of the Curriculum and Training Developer (CTD) at PASCO scientific is multi-faceted depending on project and training requirements. Using PASCO scientific equipment the CTD designs, develops and writes standards-based laboratory and field activities for middle school and high school science classes. The CTD creates and delivers training and professional development to educators who use PASCO software and hardware in their classes or places of work.
Responsibilities—Curriculum Design and Development:
· Apply principles of learning, learning styles, and various instructional design approaches and processes to the creation of lab activities.
· Select appropriate instructional strategies (e.g., inquiry, behavioral, blended) using multimedia or print as necessary.
· Conduct needs analysis and prepare clear learning objectives for the science curriculum. Identify users’ needs, analyze, organize and transform complex science concepts into engaging, and effective instructional activities.
· Develop lab activities in an online, interactive format such as PASCO scientific’s authoring environment for SPARKlabs.
· Develop training materials including manuals, quick reference guides, instructional webinars, web-based tutorials and exercises.
· Test and debug science activities for quality assurance. Ensure that all information is accurate, consistent, easy to understand, and well organized.
· Contribute to the development of efficient processes for content development. Apply processes to own work.
· Maintain expertise in current middle school and high school science education markets, including pedagogy and approaches, competition, and opportunities.
· When necessary consult with subject matter experts and others to create instructor led, self-study, and online instructional content that effectively engages the learner.
Responsibilities—Training and Professional Development:
· Design and deliver workshops in a classroom setting and virtual classroom (webinar format).
· Participate in the planning, and coordination of ongoing professional development based on educational research.
· Present complex and newly developed lab activities. Conduct lab demonstrations.
· Encourage and support the development and implementation of innovative, effective instructional programs based on an inquiry approach to learning science.
· Assist in designing and planning week-long summer institutes and year-round workshops for PASCO scientific.
· Participate in designing and developing a strategy to deliver the most effective blend of media for new professional development experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Knowledge of and experience in Earth Science an asset. Bachelor or Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Education Technology a plus, or equivalent experience.
· Repeated use of probeware in the classroom to teach science is important and essential.
· Three to five years related experience in teaching science, curriculum development and professional development for high school grade levels. Additional experience in teaching K8 a plus.
· Experience teaching biology in Advanced Placement Program® and/or in the International Baccalaureate® program a definite plus.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Technically proficient and demonstrated ability to learn new tools quickly.
