Our Industrial Alcoa Fastening Systems team offers over a century of experience creating innovative fastener products and solutions serving the commercial transportation, automotive, industrial, and construction markets. Our fasteners and installation tooling are used to assemble everything from trucks and truck trailers, buses, railcars, and automobiles to HVAC equipment, satellite dishes, electronic cabinetry and shopping carts. Our extensive product line includes blind rivets, blind bolts, Lockbolts, and a full line of pneudraulic and hydraulic tooling and installation equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Respond to inquiries regarding classification, duty rates, documentation requirements, or other import issue to ensure timely clearance.
- Maintain and provide the Customhouse broker with information regarding classification.
- Monitor the Customhouse broker to ensure timeliness of clearance, timeliness of payment of fees, accuracy of data transmitted and resolve entry problems.
- Maintain and process all activities related to the ACH process
- Administer the auditing of completed Customs Entry packets to ensure the proper filing of entry information, maintain a log showing the results and initiate any corrective action.
- Administer the auditing of Customhouse broker invoices to ensure the rates provided are accurate.
- Maintain Customs Entry and Customs Compliance Records per the guidelines of U.S. Customs Recordkeeping Requirements.
- Assist with the proper and timely filing of all post entry reconciliation including voluntary tenders, protests, or Post Entry Adjustments (PEA).
- Assist in monitoring and measuring Broker performance.
- Participate in the development and application for key trade initiatives such as C-TPAT, ACE, ISF.
- Attend seminars, meetings and read journals and other industry publication to maintain knowledge of specialized information and identify any regulation or industry changes affecting Company's business.
- Maintain database of worldwide freight rates from AFS primary freight forwarder.
- Meet all Recordkeeping requirements (electronic and hardcopies) as required.
- Backup for AES submission by HQ IMEX
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
- Review and approve customs entries, review and approve for payment import invoices.
- Maintain all import logs.
- Work with all AFS locations regarding all import issues, write/update import procedures/work instructions.
- Support C-TPAT and
transportation functions, backup for AES submissions and other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Self-starter with the ability to meet or exceed deadlines, prioritize, multi-task and maintain flexibility in fast-paced, changing environment and the ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
- International Customs experience.
- Global Logistics experience.
- Five + years experience in international trade and compliance.
- Strong working knowledge and experience in Customs compliance and audit practices.
- Strong working knowledge and experience with Customs regulations and related policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) with ability to implement and conduct training programs.
- Bachelors Degree in International Trade, Finance, Accounting or other related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Access and Excel. Capable of learning additional AFS software.
