Import Export Compliance
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all import/export shipments are in compliance with US, Canadian regulatory standards, as well as regulations as required by global destinations.
- Implement processes ensure compliance with Customs regulations of the US and Canada.
- Team with the Transport Department and Project Managers to help meet special needs for clearance of cargo. (FTZ, TIB, Carnet, etc.)
- Ensure brokers are provided all applicable documents for clearance needs for all cargo.
- Provides tariff classifications and other applicable import/export reviews as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating assigned regulatory publications. (HTS, 19 CFR, etc.)
- Assist in strategic planning of customs operations to help reduce overall operating costs.
- Assists with development of shipping documentation processes and procedures (e.g. bill of lading, proof of delivery, import/export requirements).
- Works within department, cross training, to learn additional department duties as needed.
- Provide support to other Vestas Business Units in import/export activities.
- Process Customs Brokerage invoices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or International Studies preferred
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel; MS Access desired.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- 3 - 5 years of experience with US and or Canadian Customs Regulations preferred.
- Fundamental knowledge of US Customs/Canadian Customs compliance laws.
- Solid understanding of international trade terminology.
