Cyber Professionals

Responsibilities

Be a part of NSA's reputation for excellence. Join our cyber team.

The Cyber threat facing our nation is greater than ever. As our technology capabilities expand, so do those of our adversaries. We need Cyber professionals ready to help us stay ahead of those who seek to use these vulnerabilities against us. This very important mission is composed of three major parts: network defense, network attack, and computer network exploitation. In order to carry out these functions NSA is looking for recent college graduates who are highly skilled and impassioned about winning the war in cyberspace. If you have a degree in one of the following areas then we would be interested in hearing from you!

- Computer Science
Global Network Analyst (GNA)- As a GNA you will evaluate target opportunities and strategize activities against particular networks. Use all source data to understand and map target networks. You may assist in developing detailed Exploitation and Operations Plans to executed by cyber operators.
Computer Network Operations- Operator'As an operator, you will use advanced software applications for network navigation, tactical forensic analysis, and collection of valuable intelligence information.
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mathematics

Computer Scientists
Responsibilities
NSA's systems environment is a haven for Computer Scientists, with vast networks able to manipulate and analyze huge volumes of data at mind-boggling speeds.

Computer Scientists at NSA have access to acres of hardware, software years ahead of current commercial technology, microprocessor-based advances, beyond-the-horizon supercomputers, leading-edge activities in programming, signals (including analog control), GUI's and AI, neural nets, information security, the design and implementation of encryption, and advanced algorithms.

You will employ these advanced technologies to accomplish ongoing Agency initiatives and programs, develop new technologies, test approaches, research solutions, and solve problems of national consequence.

At NSA, you have the opportunity to maximize your knowledge, skills, initiative, your ability to learn, and be imaginative in two major areas: development and support. Within these areas, many specialties are available, including:

- Database Management
- Real-time Interface
- Information Resource Management
- Graphics
- Project Management
- Executive Support
- Telecommunications
- Object-oriented Programming
- Web Design
- Information Systems Security
- Vulnerability Discovery

.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should possess the following:

- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Innovative thinking to solve complex problems
- The ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment

Computer/Electrical Engineers
Responsibilities
Computer/Electrical Engineers at the National Security Agency (NSA) push the limits of the most advanced technologies in pursuit of technological breakthroughs that help ensure the Nation's information superiority.

Computer/Electrical Engineering opportunities range from fundamental research through advanced development, small to large system design and prototype development, developmental test and evaluation, field installation, and operational support.

At NSA, you will be involved in different projects designed to enhance your professional growth. No matter what career path you follow, you will experience the demanding and exhilarating challenges unavailable to those in the private sector.

Computer Science/Electrical Engineering career paths include:
- Design of special-purpose computers and antenna systems
- Pattern recognition technologies
- Signals analysis
- Optics
- Design, development, and testing of electronic communications

You will be involved in multiple stages of projects, including requirements analysis, design, simulation, experimentation, benchwork, prototype development and testing, manufacturing, and possibly field work.

Technical Skills:
The following technical skills are needed throughout NSA:

Networking Engineering - Design/analysis of LANs/WANs, routers, switches, firewalls, protocol
Software Engineering - JAVA, C++, XML, HTML, Web applications, object oriented analysis and design, rapid prototyping, algorithm development
Communications - Digital and analog, fixed and mobile wireless, satellite, antenna design
Systems Engineering - End-to-end real-time operating systems, signals processing, VHDL/hardware development
Microelectronics - VHDL, FPGA, microelectronic manufacturing and testing (MCM, SOC), electronic packaging, VLSI Qualifications/Experience Ideal candidates should possess the following:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Innovative thinking to solve complex problems

Mathematicians
Responsibilities

As an NSA Mathematician, you may find yourself designing and analyzing complex algorithms, or expressing difficult cryptographic problems in mathematical terms, and then applying both your art and science to find a solution ... or demonstrating that a solution cannot be found, given certain computational limitations and reasonable time limits.

Among our community of Mathematicians, we count those who have chosen to apply their skills in closely aligned areas. Many of our most successful Computer Scientists and Signals Analysts hold advanced mathematical degrees, allowing seamless interface among many of our disciplines. In fact, we encourage participation in interdisciplinary assignments and training that provide additional professional breadth. Ongoing skill enhancement at NSA takes on many forms. For example, both formal and informal seminars are routinely organized among groups of scholars to study specific, timely math-related topics (both theoretical and applied), while professional organizations sponsor regular discussions on issues of broader interest.

Qualifications
Transcripts are required when applying for mathematics positions. All undergraduate and graduate level transcripts must spell out the full titles of courses taken. If your resume is matched with our current opportunities, a Recruiter will contact you to obtain your transcripts.
