Job description:
This London-based position resides in Fitch’s global Financial Institutions (FI) Group. The key responsibilities involve;
- Assigning ratings to new debt issues and programmes following detailed analysis of key documentation.
- Performing on-going quality checks on fixed income instrument ratings generated through a range of market sources, and identification and communication of pertinent findings to senior management.
- Additional responsibility, which may evolve over time, may include the provision of additional data support to the FI analytical group.
Main responsibilities include:
- Perform on-going (post-fact) checks on fixed income issue ratings
- Source and review key documentation including prospectuses, pricing supplements and term sheets
- Work closely with Fitch’s FI analysts globally and bank origination desks to assign appropriate ratings to a range of debt levels such as senior unsecured and subordinated notes.
- Maintain statistical results, report on key findings and identify appropriate solutions to any significant matters arising
- Liaise as necessary with other Fitch departments such as Business Relationship Management, Information Services and Data Management groups.
- Create and maintain a good relationship with key stakeholders.
- Apply industry knowledge in utilising third party sources such as Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters to carry out analytical work for global data research projects.
Person Specification:
- A sound knowledge of financial markets, fixed income instruments and ratings
- Experience of researching documentation for fixed income instruments using various sources such as Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters
- Good numerical skills
- Strong Excel skills with experience of developing queries preferred but not essential.
- Strong administration and communication skills
- Ability to work within a team environment; the position is part of a small team but team-work within the wider Banks Group is essential
- Understanding of and exposure to data quality checking and reporting processes would be an advantage
- Training will be provided, but the successful applicant will be expected to have some relevant background.
