Data Analyst – Bank – X3 recruitment

The role is one in which the successful candidates will need to demonstrate a great understanding of customer experience and how the data relates to customer need more than just technical prowess. They do require data mining and being able to extract nuggets of data in the masses of data the bank has but it needs to be demonstrated as action oriented and commercial.

They are looking at data mining activity so more like power user capability. However, because the selections made will need to become regularly run extracts, the business will like to see some evidence of (small) application development. ETL capability is not required.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate understanding of RDBMS environments and extracting data from them. They should also be able to understand use of statistics to understand when something is significant. An Operational Research or Statistics background is ideal. But they must be able to demonstrate commerciality too

A good understanding of financial services is advantageous, but many people have a sufficient awareness of thesis from their own experiences as a customer. A successful candidate will be able to show how they learn the business that they enter. The business uses propensity modelling extensively and they should understand the concepts behind this, although it is not essential for them to be an actual modeller
