Data Analyst – Gas Power Research Operations

Role Purpose
This role will support the efforts of the Global Gas Power Research teams by developing processes and tools to automate the forecasting process, as well as managing and building databases. The key responsibilities include data management, data scraping and data visualization activities that support the underlying fundamental driven forecasting efforts of each team. This role will involve creating innovative solutions to unique and complex problems within individual research teams. Also, this role will require successful working relationships with other teams in Wood Mackenzie such as technology, information management and other internal research teams in order to meet team objectives. This role will require a high level of organization and meeting regular process deadlines.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinating and organizing the data management and coordination efforts of the LNG tool process and other processes within the Operations team
- Creating and maintaining automated processes involving databases, spreadsheets and web sites
- Collecting and compiling global gas and power market related data from multiple sources
- Maintaining data quality and integrity, revising as necessary, and maintaining audit records of base data and subsequent revision for all Gas Power Research teams
- Providing ongoing updating support for Wood Mackenzie’s Global Gas and Power Research teams databases
- Contribute to the effort of synchronising all web scraping, forecasting and reporting platforms across Gas Power Research teams
- Creating and maintaining processes and procedures to maintain consistent data integrity
- Producing reports and data extracts as required by the various Global Gas Power Research teams
- Working with other teams in the Gas and Power Research Group to maintain consistency of data across teams.
Key Competencies
- Experience with MS Access, including database design and development
- Experience with advanced MS Excel skills, including experience of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
- Experience in automating processes using combined Access, Excel and VBA skills
- Excellent problem solving, communication and organization skills
- Experience in ownership of a process, taking responsibility for a task or group of tasks on an ongoing basis
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proven understanding of virtual concepts and processes to identify areas for improvement
- Interest in and knowledge of global gas and power fundamentals, infrastructure and markets desirable
Knowledge and Experience
Degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Computer Science, Ops Research)
