Data Analyst – Equities and Research recruitment
Equities and Research Technology provides systems development, implementation and support services for the Equity, Investment Services and Real Estate Investment areas.
The Data Analyst role is a critical and pivotal role to the success of a number of key programmes that will transform the landscape of applications supporting a number of the investment management functions.
The Data Analyst will be required to provide data analysis support to the equity, real estate and investment services business areas. The role will encompass working on a range of concepts, proposals and projects spanning the research, portfolio management and trading functions.
For this position the successful candidate will be expected to understand the relevant investment process and any supporting systems and then define the data requirements for a subject area.
You will also require a strong working knowledge of database technologies to query standard databases like Oracle, Sybase etc. In this position the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Analyse Investment Management processes and define data requirements to support the processes
- Documenting and maintaining the data consumption patterns of existing platforms
- Contribute towards the data mapping and data consumption for future platform implementations
- Mapping data requirements to the Enterprise data model
- Working with the Enterprise Architecture team to expand the Enterprise data model, where appropriate
- Identify overlaps from a data requirement standpoint across investment processes and identify synergies
- Work closely with the business analysts to define and confirm data requirements
- Liaise with the business units to outline the data quality requirements and validation procedures
- Support the project team in implementations including data loading cut-over / migration analysis
You will also be expected to identify areas where existing processes can be enhanced globally and/or regionally. You will also participate in the preparation and review of the business data models. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- A good understanding of the overall investment process and its data needs of a buy-side investment firm Experience of working as a data analyst preferably within Investment Management Company
- In depth knowledge and experience in the data space, gained from working on a data programme or analysing data requirements for strategic equity projects.
- Experience of working with reference and equity trading data processes and systems
- Demonstrate an understanding of business processes and translate them into data requirements
- Demonstrate the ability to visualise data and identify patterns within and across subject areas
- Must be an expert in using MS Office products like Visio and Excel
Knowledge of one or more standard market data products from providers like Bloomberg, Reuters along with knowledge of one or more standard vendor reporting tools such as IBI WebFocus would be a distinct advantage.
Given the nature of the role you will need to be an excellent communicator, possess excellent presentation and negotiation skills. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with all business and systems stakeholders.
