The Customer Insights Data Analyst leads the development and analysis of complex marketing campaign segmentation and email marketing programs and makes recommendations in response to customer and data management insights. The Data Analyst is responsible for enhancing and enriching enterprise customer data and should be curious and passionate about integrated marketing and sales effectiveness, data integrity and discovering new trends and insights across customers, products and more. The Data Analyst is a champion for the use of data to drive decision making across the company.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pull customer/prospect data, run reports, create segmentation plans and perform research using database tools and online analytic tools
- Create/develop complex customer segmentation and marketing campaign contact plans, trigger-based campaigns, direct marketing test plans with an ongoing champion/challenger framework. Troubleshoot data inconsistencies if they arise and help other team members learn and understand the analytic drivers of recommendations
- Manage weekly reports and analyze ongoing marketing campaign performance which may include web, email, phone and direct mail campaigns
- Assist in driving the customer insight process by which business units request and receive analytical insight regarding the business, customer, product, offers, marketing performance and more; work cross functionally with the Marketing, Database, IT and Online Delivery teams
- Collaborate with business units to critically assess their data analysis needs, providing feedback to assist in developing a plan to ensure that the data and reports can be obtained
- Develop, maintain and deliver necessary documentation to support end-to-end report development including report requirements, specification mock ups, testing scenarios and project management documents
- Analyze demographic variables to develop customer segment profiles
- Partner with IT on accountability for data governance, data validation, reporting, etc.
- Assist in building and managing an analytical program that supports business strategies
- Responsible for data quality of the customer and prospect database; perform evaluation of data quality, research and analyze new and existing data sources, QA the database to identify gaps and assist in developing a plan to improve data coverage, efficiently update data to close gaps
- Analyze competitive marketplace and follow email marketing trend
Formal Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree required
- 4-6 years of experience in an analytics environment, preferably in the financial services industry, for an association or within a marketing/market intelligence department
- Experience building and managing marketing analytics and customer insights initiatives
- Experience with CRM/database applications and web analytic tools
- Campaign management/email service provider application experience
- Ability to conceptualize data schemas and comprehend the high-level architecture of a marketing database solution
- Self-disciplined and motivated with a strong attention to detail and project management experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects under tight deadlines
- Ability to work cross functionally with business units and functional teams in a consultative, team-oriented role
- Ability to communicate analytical results to colleagues and senior executives, presenting complex concepts and results quickly and effectively
- Advanced Microsoft Excel experience required
- Intellectual curiosity coupled with personal accountability is highly valued
