Roles and Responsibilities
Working within the KPMG Data Analytics team there is a role for an Assistant Manager/ Manager to work on a range of clients utilising a varied combination of technical skills.
Data Analytics is a function within Data Insights Services that brings together analytics specialists, industry expertise, hardware and software to provide a unique facility that allows customers to commission one-off pieces of analytics work, proofs of concept or ongoing data oriented managed services. It represents a critical component to KPMG's growth strategy and is where much of the innovative early thinking takes place on data driven projects.
The successful candidate will perform a client delivery focused role, which typically involves the management, manipulation and analysis of data and transformations using innovative techniques to extract the necessary intelligence from related data assets. As part of assisting clients in data assignments, candidates will be expected to understand and advise upon data management and data quality issues, as well as profiling, cleaning, processing and transforming data to produce meaningful and insightful analyses that makes a difference to the Client.
The work is highly varied, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to enhance and take their skills to the next level by gaining strong consulting and business experience whilst developing their ability to manage work streams, projects and budgets.
Responsibilities
- Scoping engagement requirements to obtain detailed knowledge of business objectives, processes and system/data owners
- Hands on technical capability in performing data manipulation, data cleansing, querying and analysis
- Providing advisory services across the data management spectrum that includes Data Governance, Data Quality Standards, Data Integration and Master Data Management
- Balancing quality of service, timeliness and cost when delivering a project
- Taking a senior/lead role in executing large client programmes, delivering the highest quality service to our clients, meeting and exceeding their expectations
- Articulating the Data Management proposition to clients and internal staff, acting as a champion for Data Management across the firm
- Taking a key role in the growth of the Data Analytics team and supporting the development of other team members through coaching and mentoring
- Playing a key role in Business Development initiatives, including bid proposal and contract / proposition development, commercial management and building and maintaining clients relationships
Qualifications and Skills
This exciting role will fully utilize the candidates programming, data analysis and data management skills.
Strong technical skills are essential, as candidates will be expected to develop solutions either individually or as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a number of the following skill sets and experience:
- Designing and reviewing data layouts and ensuring that they are fit for a purpose
- Performing Data Quality Reviews - manipulating and clean large data tables to ensure that data meets standards and objectives
- Ability to resolve any data strategy issues concerning quality, consistency and growth across client databases
- Other related Data Management experience in Data Governance, Data Standards documentation, Master Data Management, and Data Integration
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identifying patterns within data to generate business insight
- Significant experience with either of the following data manipulation software: SAS, SQL (Oracle/SQL Server) or other
- Broad knowledge of the finance function and the importance of management information within organisations'
- Degree-equivalent level in a Information Technology/Computing/ Engineering discipline
Experience and Background
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical analysis to a non technical audience;
- Tenacious and problem solving attitude, particularly when helping Clients obtain the data required.
Any experience with the following will be advantageous:
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and analysis (such as regression, clustering, sampling, social network analysis)
- Any accounting (especially audit) experience ERP systems knowledge e.g. SAP, JDEdwards and Oracle
- Experience with forensic or fraud related work is desirable, but not essential
