Corporate Information Services (CIS) is a dynamic, global team focused on providing IT leadership to GE Corporate Components and GE company wide applications. As a part of the Corporate Information Services Organization, our team serves both the Corporate function and all GE businesses. GE-wide applications managed by CIS are Oracle HR, SSS, Benefits, SSO, InsideGE, GE.com and others; CIS is responsible for some of the most heavily used applications in GE

As part of CIS, the CIS BIDW COE team provides data warehouse, reporting, and analytics solutions for corporate functions and GE businesses. We build and support the Business Intelligence applications for global operations, and diverse functional teams. Our team has over 80 people (including contractors), and is located at multiple US and international locations

Role Summary/Purpose
This role serves as the technical expert responsible for design / implementation of Data Warehouse (DW) / Business Intelligence (BI) technology. This person administers standards for the organization's relational DW / BI architecture, determines business requirements, proposes changes, develops migration and implementation plans, and executes projects.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence solutions
  • Manage a team of developers to create Business Intelligence applications for reporting and analytics
  • Data Architecture (data modeling, database design) leveraging Embarcadero ER/Studio, ETL design and development (Informatica), and reporting and analytics (OBIEE, Essbase)
  • Analyze business needs and information requirements, define optimum system requirements to meet business needs, and prioritize and manage new requirements
  • Develop detailed analysis, design, construction and testing specifications ensuring technical compatibility and integration
  • Conduct business analysis, event modeling, logical and physical database design, database optimization, load strategy design and implementation, security and change management
  • Assist in the systems development process, including planning and monitoring development efforts, reviewing deliverables, and communications to management
  • Ensure users' effective, accurate and easy access to data; translate user information requirements into data
  • Verify decision support program specifications with users for reliability, accuracy and functionality
  • Work effectively across various support teams
  • Apply Six Sigma methodology to all aspects of the applications

    Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other Technical discipline (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 5 years of technical IT experience)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence) with Expertise in OBIEE Architecture, Administration, Security, and semantic layers
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data modeling (logical and/or physical), ETL design, reporting design
  • Minimum 3 year of experience in Informatica, Business Objects XI, Hyperion, Embarcadero, Essbase, Oracle RDBMS 10g (or higher), Microsoft SQL Server, or equivalent technologies

    Desired Characteristics

  • Team management experience (onshore/offshore), excellent project management and communication skills
  • Strong problem analysis and problem resolution skills from an O/S, database, and application perspective, with proven ability to recognize and execute process improvements
  • Experience in architecting and implementing high availability and disaster recovery for mission critical DW / BI environments
  • Knowledge of LDAP, CA Site minder, Single Sign on implementation
  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architectures and mobile BI deployments
  • Knowledge of end-to-end SDLC BI infrastructure architecture
  • Self-motivated with ability to work effectively and cooperatively with both project and infrastructure teams
  • Strategic and Clear Thinking to translate discrete and complex ideas to business driven results
  • Detail orientation with a strong drive to enforce common standards
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix environment
