Role Summary/Purpose
Develop Cloud strategies and services focused in the area of Data Center LAN’s; works within the framework of established operating procedures to implement new technologies to the networking platforms for the business. Provides troubleshooting and maintenance support as needed for servers, user devices and communication links to ensure operational availability; Focuses on both hardware and software aspects of network maintenance to deliver optimum network performance.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide day to day project and technical leadership in assigned technology areas, including enterprise Data Center networks and internetworking technologies
Provide direct technical and engineering project support to the GE businesses for their specific requirements
Work as an escalation contact for incident and problem resolution, as well as participating in off hour’s on-call schedule
Test, evaluate and certify telecom equipment and telecom services for GE
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, other technical field
Minimum 5 years of IT infrastructure or related IT experience
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications or network engineering
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act

Desired Characteristics
Advanced technical or industry certification(s) in Telecom Services
In-depth knowledge, at least 5 years in Telecommunications systems/service, LAN switch technology (including large scale LAN network, STP, VTP domain management), and network test methods and equipment
Hands-on experience in some of or all of the following areas: IP QoS, VoIP, Wireless, IP Firewalls, IPS, Internet proxy, load-balancer
Strong project management skills (min 5 years) leading Network or related IT initiatives from initiation to implementation
Six Sigma certification
Ability to manage a multi-vendor LAN/WAN, multiprotocol routing, including but not limited to EIGRP, OSPF
Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; has experience working with others on a global basis
Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships; creates processes with customer viewpoint; partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives
Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills - communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve; creates actionable strategies and operational plans
