Basic Function of the Position: This position is responsible for managing Teams that provide the Physical Planning, Infrastructure Support, and Production Service Levels of the Data Center. This includes, but is not limited to providing ?24 X 7? Operations Support staffing, Infrastructure Support staffing, and providing a secure environment for data and equipment inventories. The incumbent will be responsible for providing a Secure environment for protection and integrity of assets and data. The incumbent will also be charged with future planning for Data Center capacity, and will be responsible for providing high availability consistent with the capabilities of a Tier III facility and in alignment with the expectations defined in the Service Level Agreements in place with the User community. The incumbent in this position is accountable all of the items described above and is also expected to take the initiative to take on and complete new tasks in a timely manner as needed. The incumbent also must be able to be available to be on-call in case of an. Dimensions of the Position: Total Number of Employees Reporting to Position: Up to 18 Direct Reports (Salaried): 6 Indirect Reports (Salaried, Variable): 4 Indirect Reports (Hourly): Up to 8 Total Budget Amount Position is Responsible for: $3,500,000/year Total Inventory Position is Responsible for: $100,000,000 Uptime Objective: 99.9% Production Environment Availability with no unplanned outages Reporting Relationships: Position Reports Directly to: Director Computer Operations Positions that may directly report to position being described: 1. infrastructure Support Supervisor 2. Floor Planning Coordinator 3. Operations Supervisors Positions that may indirectly report to position being described: 1. Infrastructure Support Analyst 2. Infrastructure Support Technician 3. Lead Operator 4. Data Center Operator/Specialist 5. Vendor Service Engineers and MEP Contractors Major Activities of the Position: ? Manages the Operations, Infrastructure Support and Floorplanning Teams to provide a high availability and rapid deployment of equipment for Business demands. ? Provides support for design, engineering and implementation of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) systems to support the high-availability infrastructure. ? Monitors and maintains availability of back-up power and cooling systems, ensuring at least 48 hours of isolated operation and virtually unlimited operations with Utility power sources. ? Manages contracts and service deliverables between onsite vendor personnel and Data Center staff. ? Manages the installation of infrastructure equipment in the Data Center space. ? Ensure that infrastructure requirements for all new equipment are met (ex. power requirements, cooling requirements, weight distribution). ? Ensures that the environment of all critical facilities and equipment zones is maintained. ? Has accountability for managing to and providing budgeting information as needed. ? Participates in Disaster Recovery planning and testing and maintains accurate, up to date information relating to the Data Center Infrastructure. ? Participates on the Disaster Recovery Damage Assessment Team and assists in Facilities Restoration in the event of a Disaster Recovery event. Principal Accountabilities: ? The ability of the Data Center to meet Service Level Objectives based upon Service Level Agreements with Business and external Vendors. ? The ability to provide staffing levels to support Infrastructure and Operations production requirements. ? The ability to manage to budget objectives and provide budgetary input for fiscal planning. ? The productivity and efficiency of the Operations staff with respect to increasing Production workloads, Number of Stores, and Distribution and Replenishment goals (i.e., ?Doing more with less?). ? The ability to pull together and direct diverse Teams of associates to identify, resolve, and mitigate problems that would impact or interrupt delivery of services or information to the User Community. OTHER NEEDED COMPETENCIES: 1. Strong understanding of electrical and cooling systems and of the infrastructure required to support a ?24 X 7? operations environment. 2. Ability to use MS Office Suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.) 3. Ability to use Project Planning tools, such as Project Office and/or MS Projects. 4. Ability to direct emergency situations with a calm and focused demeanor. 5. Understanding and compliance with the Operating Model as defined to support Information Technology deliverables. Qualifications: 1. College Degree required, major in Computer Science or Management. 2. Valid NC drivers license. 3. Strong oral and written communication skills. 4. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 5. Five or more years experience in a High-Availability Data Center environment, or equivalent experience. 6. Excellent time management/organizational skills. Essential Job Functions: Must be able to read computer screen and printed reports. Must be able to communicate orally and with written/printed reports. Must be able to use MicroSoft Windows Office Systems. Must be able to use typical office machines (phone, fax, and copier).
