Harrington Starr is excited to present a fantastic opportunity working for a leading insurance company with a role in Data Centre Implementation. The successful candidate will be placed in a dedicated team tasked with provisioning the hardware and network services that underpin the company's systems. To secure this role, the candidate should be able to work under pressure in a fast moving environment, have qualifications in either Cisco or Juniper (CCNA/JNCIA), and have a thorough understanding of TCP/IP and knowledge of Unix/Networking troubleshooting. Redhat and Solaris systems are also used, knowledge of these is important.
As a Data Centre Implementation Technician you will be involved in the day to day operations of the Data Centre infrastructure working with Cisco, Juniper, Redhat and Solaris based systems. This will include physical implementation of new and existing equipment, including racking, cabling, port provision and basic configuration as well as numerous other tasks essential to the smooth running of the facility.
You will be expected to engage in out of hours work as well as weekend work.
To be considered for the role of Data Centre Implementation Technician (Surrey, Cisco, Juniper, Redhat, Solaris, Data Centre, Hardware Maintenance, Unix) you must have the following skills and experience:
* Unix/Networking troubleshooting
* Thorough understanding of TCP/IP
* Cisco, Juniper, Redhat and Solaris - CCNA or JNCIA qualified.
* Juniper, PRTG, Nagios, Packetshaper, and Solarwinds knowledge an advantage.
* Data Centre Hardware maintenance; HP, Dell, Oracle etc.
Candidates should be confident communicators, deliver the role with enthusiasm, take pride in good customer service and maintain calmness under pressure.
