Description:
Seeking a Senior Data Center Product Manager will be responsible for identifying business needs and planning, designing, and providing operating parameters for the data centre facilities and systems in a reliable, secure and cost effective manner.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Identify business requirements, design for implementation data centre services or solutions that meet clients’ needs in the areas of application, network and server infrastructure.
- Establish processes to collect and analyse data for the purposes of data centre location modelling, needs taking into account capacity forecasting, business continuity plans and market proximity requirements.
- Be able to develop and present complete Data Centre business cases to the most senior levels of IT management.
- Identify ongoing problems and opportunities to improve reliability, security or cost effectiveness of the data centre infrastructure, research and propose solutions.
- Plan possible small to large scale data centre physical relocations in the APAC region
- Develop and document business processes and standard operating procedures.
- Analyse potential system failure modes and develop contingency plans.
- Identify the need for new tools and processes in areas of responsibility as well as conduct research and propose solutions.
- Keep up with the developments in the data centre industry
- Understand new products and technologies and integrate in the broader IT infrastructure.
- Interact and work with other infrastructure engineers in the group.
- Work with the Datacentre Operations Center team to resolve escalated problems and assist with tools and training selection.
- Work with equipment vendors and service providers to resolve issues and deliver new functionality.
- Occasional travel may be required
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience in the areas of medium to large scale data centre operations.
- Good communication and multi-tasking skills
- Knowledge of new approaches to data centre architecture including cloud computing, blade systems, and virtualization as well as their impact on data centre design.
- Broad understanding of the state of the data centre industry, how it fits in the larger IT infrastructure and helps meet business goals.
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, computer room cooling technologies, and site security.
- Strong knowledge of reliable electrical power distribution systems as they apply to data centre design.
- Knowledge of business continuity planning and crisis management in a data centre context.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP LAN/WAN networking technologies including fibre and structured cabling.
- Knowledge of local and remote server management
- Knowledge of financial market related data centre hosting options.
- Excellent task planning and monitoring skills, including the development of standard operating procedures
