Job Description
Working with GTO, establish and maintain a framework, policies, procedures, processes, controls and assurance mechanisms to ensure the Bank complies with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and expectations relating to data and information management, technology, Operations, IP and Brand
Key Roles Responsibilities
- Provide support across the Group in relation to all aspects of Data Governance, including leading delivery for Data Protection, Data Privacy and policy formulation and supporting GTO with data security, retention/retrieval/destruction and cross border data transfer issues.
- Identify regulatory and legal risks relating to business Data Governance globally and work with business and functional stakeholders to ensure the effective mitigation and management of such risks.
- Provide subject matter expertise for the establishment of standards and frameworks to ensure the Bank complies with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including supporting the development of an appropriate risk based compliance framework and contributing to setting and co-ordinating policies and procedures for identifying, assessing, measuring, monitoring, managing and reporting Data Governance risks
- Establish and maintain effective processes, including training, advice and support, to ensure these policies and procedures are effectively implemented across the Group, working with the Head Policy Training, Legal and Compliance.
- Establish and maintain effective relations with business, country and Group Legal Compliance teams, including training, advice and support, to ensure they are aware of and are able to manage relevant data, governance issues.

Working with the wider Legal and Compliance functions:

identify and analyse evolving legal and regulatory changes / practices and associated risks relating to Data Governance

develop appropriate responses, plans and advice
- disseminate the responses / plans and advice
Responsibilities exclude fraud-prevention, BCP/ Crisis Management, Operational Risk management, 1st Line assurance and 2nd line Rules Based Assurance activity.
Qualifications Skills
Experienced lawyer with deep knowledge and practical experience of laws and regulations relevant to Information and data protection and privacy in the banking industry
Business acumen and judgement (including the ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), Excellent inter-personal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Understanding of best practice risk management techniques and frameworks.
Strong integrity, independence and resilience.
Personal authority with proven ability to establish relationships and exert influence within senior levels of the Group and with regulators and other external stakeholders.
