Data Mining Analysis Specialist - Special Analytics Investigations

The Specialist Analytics Investigations Group is a team, reporting directly into the Global Head of Operational Risk Control, with a mandate to develop techniques to identify and investigate potential operational risk pressure points within the organization.

The successful candidate will focus on data mining and analysis, in support of other team members with a more business aligned background. This will involve:

Understanding the business questions relevant for the other team members and helping them in the implementation of analyses to answer these questions
Researching what data mining analytics might be suitable to support the team's goals and implementing the more promising ones
Facilitating the roll-out in a production mode of the most promising analytics
Helping with the development of tools for data analysis and visualization
Documenting the key analyses and tools to support knowledge retention within the team

We are looking for a candidate with a sound theoretical knowledge of data mining and data analysis, looking to apply this knowledge to concrete and highly relevant problems within the operational risk space. The candidate might also be asked to contribute to targeted onsite reviews under exceptional circumstances.

Given the need to collaborate with other team members on a project basis, the ability to operate with a cooperative spirit within a small team under potentially tight deadline is essential.

The role would be particularly suitable for a recent graduate with a background in data mining or machine learning, potentially a PhD qualified candidate (in physics or statistics or computer sciences with machine learning) with a strong knowledge of algorithms and knowledge of pattern recognition technique.

(iii) ability to deliver to tight deadline
(iv) technical competencies in data analysis
