Data Mining Analyst - COLUMBUS, OH (location required)
This position will be part of the Branch Planning team, specifically reporting into the Retail Distribution Network group.
Branch Planning focuses primarily on the support of our Retail Real Estate team in their ongoing work with Chase's retail branch network.
This position will interface directly with the data mining team lead and from time to time directly with senior executives (as clients).
Assigned projects will expected to be completed by the individual from start to finish (data gathering and manipulation, overall analytical assessment, project documentation, communication packaging, and presentation of results). The type of analytical projects/questions posed to this individual can be of the highest level of difficulty, each with the chance of having significant impact to the business.
Typically these problems will be of an unstructured nature, whereby the analyst will be expected to quickly assess and comprehend the situation then develop a practical problem solving strategy.
The desired approach would then be confidently communicated to executives in a straight-forward way with specifics on timing and expectations.
Timing expectations are usually aggressive.Contribute beyond producing high quality and timely analytical solutions.
They would have an exceptional eye for audit, whereby simply checking that code is written correctly is not satisfactory.
The employee needs to learn this business, study our data (and purchased data), understand our volumes and metrics, and know when something is out of the ordinary.
In addition to audit, problem solving skills are critical.
Once a data/analytical issue has been identified, the employee should have a practical approach and know-how to address it.Should have a passion for data and analysis, and how that information contributes to the analytical "stories" we are tasked with telling.
There should be a desire to source analyze data beyond what is readily available, which would include incorporating more information from disparate databases as well as untapped/new data offerings from external sources.Expertise in the effective presentation/visualization of data/findings is critical.
Being tuned in to how our clients accept and interpret our data is an important part of how we chose to deliver our information.
Having the ability to customize the format of how we display results is a valuable attribute.
Essentially, this employee should be able to create any (within reason) desired visualization format. Will have or be granted access to all relevant data and have the computing tools necessary to complete the job.
If necessary data (or computing tool) does not readily exist, but can be otherwise sourced or purchased, it is not uncommon that the case would be made (and approved) to quickly acquire the desired information or capability.Top-tier analytical capabilities, the desired candidate would have a highly confident, analytically passionate, and outgoing disposition.
They would thrive in a high pressure and high expectation environment.
