Digital services and processes underpin and pervade every aspect of the Upstream community through Infrastructure, Applications, Data/Information/Knowledge Management, Visualization Tools, Safety Systems, to Process control and Collaborative Environments.

The speed of location, provenance, and quality of Upstream Data have a significant impact on how efficiently effectively the business operates, and so Upstream ITS Data Management is a critical part of business operation.

Upstream ITS operates a global Data Services organisation, offering data loading, transformation, export, archival, quality management, and other operational services to Upstream locations worldwide. The organisation has a global remit, aiming to deliver a consistent, reliable and cost-effective catalogue of services at all Upstream sites.

The Data Operations Manager is responsible for provision of operational data services within agreed service levels to the Upstream Regions, Divisions, and Functions. The Lead will maintain relationships with end users, data managers, senior ITS and Upstream staff based at the site, and elsewhere within BP to ensure service is delivered to a consistent quality, and service escalations are managed in an effective manner.

Beyond guiding day to day operations of the service, the Lead will also ensure that changes to the service are appropriately managed and implemented, as they arise in relation to changes in business demand and service level requirements, from software deployment projects, the Region business environment, regulatory changes, etc.

The Lead will develop, and manage implementation of the Site Service Continuous Improvement Plan, driving process, tool, and data quality improvements, in alignment with direction from the Upstream Functions, Upstream Technology Research, and the ITS Data Management team as appropriate.

Responsible for forecasting and operational management of a budget of over $1 million, the lead will also be responsible for managing Region, Function, and Division demand and onward cost allocation and recovery.

The lead will be the BP HSE accountable person for those third parties hosted on campus, and will work with the Global Data Operations Manager to ensure site service delivery requirements are fulfilled in a manner that aligns with overall Service Sourcing Strategy.
Working with the Global Data Operations Manager, the Alaska Region Data Managers, and the Upstream ITS Site Service Delivery Manager:

- Agree the catalogue of services provided to Upstream users at BP's Alaska site, their associated Service Level Requirements; and manage changes to the catalogue arising from project, business, and other changes
- Agree the site service budget within ITS, manage service delivery within this budget and SLAs, and create and maintain appropriate budget and partner / joint venture cost recovery models
- Guide operations of the Data Management Service Desk, including associated measurement, monitoring, and reporting requirements
- Support awareness and utilisation of the service through effective engagement and communication with site service users customers
- Define and performance manage implementation of standard data operational processes at site, aligning with global data operational processes, and other Functional, and ITS best practice
- Proactively match the capacity of the service to agreed and forecast business demands.
- Ensure on-going maintenance of the site data services disaster recovery capability, where required by the site Business Continuity Plan, in line with Upstream ITS standards
- Develop, maintain, and implement the Site Continuous Service Improvement plan
- Ensure compliance with Digital Security standards
* Degree qualified, or equivalent relevant industry experience
- Minimum 10 years experience in operational Data Management, in an oil and gas, or comparable industry context
- Experience in ITS, Service Delivery, and/or project management areas, including experience in an operational service delivery role, working directly with service users and customers
