As a member of the Product Development Team, the Data Quality Analyst ensures that the HMS Provider MasterFile™ meets its quality requirements. He or she accomplishes this objective through data mining, identifying and measuring changes, as well as the cause of changes in HMS’ universe of US Healthcare Providers. He or she will triage potential data quality issues by first validating the issue, determining the root cause and communicating the appropriate solution for resolving the issue. The Data Quality Analyst identifies, recommends and implements strategies for increasing the quality of the product.
To be successful in this role the Data Quality Analyst must understand how clients utilize the HMS Provider MasterFile and the impact that changes to the product will have on the usability, quality and value of the product. He or she will collaborate with both business and technical stakeholders to present the results of his or her analysis and to develop solutions to meet current and future product objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs, implements and evaluates the output of scripts that identify changes in the HMS Provider MasterFile and determines whether or not the impact is positive or negative
- Analyzes potential data quality issues, validates issues and determines the root cause and potential remedies. Differentiates variances caused by anomalies in data sources versus product design issues.
- Partners with the Product Management team to develop strategies for enhancing and extending product offerings.
- Evaluates and communicates the impact of introducing new data sources and business rules on product quality Identifies short and long-term solutions for resolving gaps in product features.
- Evaluates production processes to identify opportunities to improve quality through operational improvements.
- Publishes and presents reports to management capturing and trending key quality metrics, as well as the progress on planned data quality initiatives.
- Supports ad-hoc and client analysis requests.
- Develops and defends standard operating procedures during quality reviews.
- May represent Data Quality function during the sales process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent communication skills
- 4-5 yrs. analytical skills including data analysis, data collection, process mapping and troubleshooting for root cause
- Strong PL/SQL, SQL Programming; Oracle preferred
- Working knowledge of scripting language (Perl, Ruby, Unix scripting) a plus
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Access experience required
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive cross divisional working relationships
- The ability to handle conflict situations professionally
