Data Specialist
Teaching Matters is seeking an data specialist with extensive experience in the education sector to help implement a ground-breaking teacher effectiveness support model for urban schools. The successful candidate will have an unparalleled opportunity to influence the development of a program reaching 2500 teachers and 27,000 students by the end of 2017 in the NYC metropolitan area.
The primary role of the data specialist will be to design, track, and capture student and school-based data to support our goal of achieving measurable student outcomes. Work will be partly school-based and will likely require intensive interaction with school leaders, teacher leaders, and teachers.
Responsibilities include
- Assist in development of metrics for tracking student outcomes at a school and teacher team level
- Oversee agreements and collection of data from participating schools
- Support math and literacy coaches in analyzing trend data
- Conduct initial data assessments of schools and provide upfront analysis
- Develop templates and models for looking at data within teams
- Oversee and analyze data for TMI program model across schools
- Develop reports and communications on program impact
- Works closely with technology department to coordinate data collection and automation
Key Qualifications
- 5-7 years experience designing and working intensively with school and student-based data
- Experience helping principals and teachers organize and analyze student data
- Experience with data analysis in urban schools preferred
- Demonstrated capacity as a collaborative problem-solver
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Superior interpersonal skills to interact with internal staff and school employees at various levels
