The Role
Bloomberg is looking for a passionate, experienced individual to join the Charts and Graphics Business. The team is responsible for development of all graphical solutions on the Bloomberg Professional Terminal. These visual applications are mission critical tools that, collectively, are hit over ten million times/day. The preferred applicant will possess a deep body of knowledge in data visualization, time series analysis methods and be familiar with a broad range of asset classes.

As a Data Visualization and Charting Business Manager, you will be responsible for designing visual solutions that represent significant amounts of data to communicate actionable information. You will be continually challenged to design creative solutions that help users make decisions. The design and development process will require you to collaborate with business managers, engineers and clients throughout the planning and development lifecycle.

The visual solutions will be used by all levels of our business both internally and externally. We are looking for a detailed, business savvy, proactive person to work extensively with displaying crucial data that can strongly influence important decisions for us and our clients moving forward. You will play a key part in leading product design and the direction of the Charts and Graphics business unit.

Responsibilities will include:
- Lead the development of mock-ups, storyboards, and prototype visual analytical applications
- Work collaboratively with developers to ensure the design is implemented as an effective user experience
- Convey information clearly and effectively through graphical means
- Influencing the direction of our product by providing feedback to Bloomberg's business managers on user demand, market practices and product enhancements.
- Working across business teams to leverage the depth and breadth of Bloomberg data to provide insights into complex data sets by communicating its key-aspects in a more intuitive way
- Clearly communicating the methods used data visualization to clients, our sales force and product
developers
- Collaborate with usability testing team and development of graphic design

Qualifications:
- Experience in developing many different types of visualizations, including visual analytics; and real-time visualization for situation awareness; visualizations for interactive data exploration; narrative, editorially-guided visualizations
- Expertise and understanding of data visualization technology and vendors, interaction design, graphic design and information architecture
- Product and business management experience identifying a strategic direction for the business unit; a visionary with ideas and deep market insight to engage clients
- Must have experience with product lifecycle and product marketing, including working with clients to understand their needs, putting together business plans to present ideas, liaising with sales and RD to help with the design and roll out of product
- In depth understanding of charting techniques used within the financial markets
- Familiar with statistics and quantitative analysis
- Data acquisition and analysis, including experience manipulating large data sets with various toolsets
- Ability to work with multiple groups across reporting lines
- Exemplary organizational, presentation and communication skills
- Programming experience in Java, C#, Matlab, VBA and/or Excel is a plus
- Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Visio
- Solid understanding of illustration, animation, storytelling, etc.
- Knowledge of usability principles and techniques
- A strong portfolio of past products
- Minimum of seven years of experience working in the field of data visualization
- BA, BFA, MFA in the following Fine Arts: Studio Art, Graphic/Visual Design, Visual Communications, or equivalent professional experience is preferred
