Data Warehouse DBA/Developer

The Data Warehouse DBADeveloper will focus on the design and delivery of data for dashboards, reports, and associated database design and platforms using Microsoft technology, applications and tools. As a BI Data Warehouse DBA, you will be fully immersed in data warehousing projects to solve and report on critical health and productivity related data. The successful candidate should possess deep technical expertise in database design, ETL, reporting and analytics and will have previous experience utilizing a structured delivery methodology. The candidate should also demonstrate general management competences including analytical problem solving, customer focused innovation, project management and technical excellence. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required. General areas of responsibility include:
- Participates in projects that design and deliver data models, Analysis Services/OLAP cubes, Reporting Services, and dashboards in response to business requirements.
- All aspects of BI including technical, process and organizational design.
- Communicates with product management to design and deliver dashboards, reports and other user interfaces that drive business value and efficiently and effectively leverage the use of data.
- Design and develop the architecture for all data warehousing components (e.g. tool integration strategy; source system data ETL strategy. Data staging, moving and aggregation; information and analytics delivery; and data quality storage)
- Code management, peer review and deployment of BI solutions.
- Works with a variety of internal and external users to develop data models and performs data design reviews with the rest of the project team as appropriate.
- Assists database administrators with the development of the physical database model and database design, ensuring that data designs meet overall business information requirements and each application's functional requirements.
- Maintains expert knowledge of data warehouse, data mart models and assists in training others in data management methodologies and techniques.
- Develops and maintains metadata for data warehouse and reporting systems.
- Provides Microsoft based Services and Support (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, etc)
- Participation in proposal development and client presentations.

Technical knowledge and documented experience including:
- Hands on leadership in defining and implementing end to end full stack BI solutions.
- Experience with data warehouse development lifecycles or in Business Intelligence.
- Strong relational database experience in logical and physical data models and data marts.
- Strong experience with relational and multidimensional data warehouse, business intelligence concepts, capacity planning is required.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 is required.
- Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services, Reporting Services, and Integration.
- Strong experience in OLAP/Cube design and build (preferably Microsoft Analysis Services) is required.
- Experience with other OLAP, ETL, and BI tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of the use of source control systems including TFS
- Ability to work with product management to understand their business requirements and to assist with the development and design of effective solutions to meet the client's needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Determines data warehousing strategy; selects tools and techniques, including middleware, data cleansing tools, and/or data management systems to provide the solution to data and client issues and other matters of significance and to meet business needs.
- Conducts research into new data warehouse applications and determines viability for adoption.
- Evaluates existing subject areas stored in the data warehouse and determines where data should be stored.
- Assists in several components of the overall architecture of the data warehouse system.
- Documents tasks for end-user, technical, and managerial review to ensure high quality customer service.
- Provides descriptive analyses of customer, product, and market trends and identifies and resolves data issues.
- Performs quality assurance testing of data integration and report development. Monitors data load operations to ensure accuracy.
- Assists and/or provides limited direction to lower level technical personnel.

Requirements:
- 2+ years experience working with database server clusters and replicators
- 2+ years experience with monitoring (performance and capacity) backups (cold and hot), and restores and recovery procedures
- 3+ years experience using Microsoft SSIS, SQL Agent, SQL Profiler and SSRS
- 3+ years experience with hands on database tuning and troubleshooting experience including hardware performance associations
- 2+ years experience working with ADO.NET and database transactions in multi-tiered software applications
- 2+ years experience writing stored procedures
- High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's Degree required
Assets:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related Engineering field with a strong computational background
- Technical knowledge of SAN architectures
- Cluster Server architectures and management
- DTS processes
- Windows Powershell
