DWH Developer
Loyalty Management Group (LMG) is in the data business. As such, our business includes a number of data warehouses that form an integral part of our IT solutions and services.
The appropriate design, development, stability, scalability, security and performance of these data warehouses are crucial to the commercial success of the business as these systems provide valuable insight to our internal teams, our sponsors and suppliers, and to our FMCG clients.
The DWH Developer plays a key role in the DWH team by designing and developing solutions to business problems and by ensuring that end user requirements are being met.
The role is suited to a database professional experienced with data warehousing in particular.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The DWH Developer will offer design and development expertise to the LMG Data Warehouse team and support to the LMG user community.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Monitoring the production data warehouse systems and addressing any issues that arise so as to ensure SLAs are met.
• Resolving Service Requests that are raised to the DWH team.
• Liaising with users to determine agree requirements for new DWH functionality or data sets.
• Estimating DWH design and development effort based on requirements, design documentation, and program specifications.
• Designing building DWH solutions to meet requirements adhering to LMG development standards.
• Testing DWH solutions, to ensure that requirements are satisfied results are accurate.
• Producing detailed technical design and operational documentation associated with DWH design and development activities.
• Determining and suggesting process improvements to improve end user satisfaction with the DWH services.
REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must have significant experience of the following:
• DWH development using SQL and PL/SQL
• DWH modeling especially Ralph Kimball’s Data Warehousing methodology
• VLDB (100 million row plus) exposure and experience
• Working in small teams following I.T. Department service management procedures (ITIL)
In addition, the individual will:
• Be an effective communicator at all levels
• Be a team player, supportive and collaborative
• Have the ability to take ownership of tasks and activities and report progress
• Have the ability to understand business processes
• Have good organizational skills
• Have exposure to structured analysis design standards QA exposure
• Have good documentation skills
