Database Administration Level II Job in Oklahoma City 73112, Oklahoma US
The function of this position is to provide planning, design, application support, change control, security and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server for over 150 databases supporting more than 10,000 retail web sites. The incumbent will maintain SQL server best practices, and perform data modeling, logical and physical design and implementation, and provide performance and tuning analysis for database and application interface support. The incumbent must possess at all times a total awareness of the overall corporate and business objectives and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Perform SQL code analysis and operational integration specifications.
- Provide database design, implementation, detail SQL coding and integration skills to meet the established deliverable time.
- Provide technical advice on database and application software interface issues.
- Provide technical analysis of existing database design and performance.
- Generate database schema definitions and modifications as required.
- Implement database backup and recovery procedures for a 7X24 production architecture.
- Advise, implement and maintain change control procedures for database and applications interface in both the production and development environments.
- Provide recommendations for database and application software technology enhancements.
- Advise applications programming on application database design issues and interfaces.
- Perform database tuning analysis and implement performance enhancements.
- Establish and maintain database security with focus on the relationship with applications.
- Participate in 7x24 on-call support rotation and expected to work during mission critical situations.
- Coordinates project activities with an emphasis on quality and meeting timelines, ensuring successful implementations, which are focused on positive impact and response from both an internal and external perspective.
- Uses approved methodologies, techniques, and standard best practices in order to effectively manage software for integration of code and customization, in order to minimize the resources required for migration to vendor released upgrades and patches.
- Maintains awareness of project status, identifying conflicts and proactively communicating them to the appropriate individuals / department(s).
- Maintain awareness of departmental budget goals.
- Maintain highly available E-commerce web site operations .
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide additional applications design, coding and implementation support when needed.
- Install database and application interface solutions as needed.
- Develop maintenance and testing of Disaster Recovery procedures and internal controls to ensure integrity of the systems and to minimize system downtime / outages.
- Perform activities in compliance with IT standards and procedures, audit requirements, reliability, quality and security.
- Prepares reporting as required.
- Performs other tasks as required.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and/or 3 to 5 years equivalent work experience.
- Must have a strong background in applications design, development and implementation with Relational Database Management Systems experience.
- Experience with the Windows 2003/2008 operating systems including both workstation and server versions.
- Experience with MS SQL Server 2005/2008, ADO and ADO.NET.
- Experience in performance and tuning SQL applications.
- Experience in the installation and configuration of Microsoft data access technologies for the server and workstation.
- Experience with change control management and interfaces for database and application migration.
Knowledge:
- Good working knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems, relational concepts, and components.
- Strong working knowledge of PC hardware, peripherals and support requirements.
- Familiar with Windows system administration functionality.
- Technical understanding of Enterprise Computing and how various components are interrelated with the applications.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
