Job Description Job Classification: Direct Hire Essential Functions: 1. Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements 2. Monitor systems and platforms for availability and performance 3. Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency 4. Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover 5. Restore and recover corrupted databases 6. Install and test upgrades and patches 7. Implement security and encryption 8. Manage application environments (Development/QA/Production) 9. Manage promotion of approved development into production environment 10. Provide 24/7 support for critical situations 11. Evaluate and recommend new database technologies 12. Lead efforts in upgrading legacy systems to current versions of software 13. Document database architecture 14. Assist application development in the creation of database schemes, tables, procedures and permissions 15. Set up data sharing and disk partitioning 16. Develop database utilities and automated performance reporting 17. Create shell scripts for task automation Minimum Requirements: 1. Degree in computer science, business, engineering, math, or closely related field, or significant equivalent experience. 2. Ability to prioritize and take ownership of multiple tasks according to the needs of management. 3. At least four years overall database administration experience in a Microsoft Windows 2000/2003/2008 environment with SQL 2000/2005/2008. 4. Strong working knowledge of HIPAA privacy/security standards, general audit expectations with regard to security, and how same should be implemented and supported within a growing company. 5. Good applied knowledge of server technology, backup, recovery, tuning, space management and capacity planning. 6. Excellent organizational skills. 7. Microsoft certifications a plus. 8.
