POSITION DESCRIPTION A Database Analyst II will review, evaluate, design, implement and maintain company database s . This position will identify data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provide data flow diagrams and documents the process. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. This position may manage projects or serve as a team lead when appropriate KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITES: Responsible to perform data analysis in support of critical decision making that will govern the direction of the company. Review, evaluate, design, implement and maintain company database s . Identify data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provide data flow diagrams and documents the process. Write codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures. Build SQL queries for local replication of disparate university systems. Conform to and assist in the development of IT data retrieval standards and processes. Generate formally distributed and ad-hoc reports for all departments of the University. Aggregate data sets from local replication stores into a single university-wide composite datastore. Analyze trends and current state of university data and data structure. Maintain integrity and optimization of data structures within the datastore. Gather, review, and validate business needs and report requirements from end users and determine/recommend best tools and methods for developing reports. Develop expert knowledge of SQL Reporting, Crystal Reports, and have the ability to design high level and detailed reports. Define and develop TSQL Queries, Stored Procedures, Views and Triggers. Manage projects or serve as a team lead when appropriate. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED SKILLS: Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) required. Advanced understanding PL/SQL and Transact-SQL 3+ years experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and/or Crystal Reports required Experience with SQL Server Business Intelligence Toolset Basic understanding of Database and Data Warehouse design structures and concepts Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field Able to build SQL queries for local replication Able to work under minimal supervision Able to work in an environment where a certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected Able to effectively communicate orally (in person and by telephone) and in writing Able to multi-task, yet maintain close attention to detail and timeliness of work production Able to work in a positive team-oriented manner with a variety of people (students, faculty, staff, administrators, vendors, and members of the general public) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Language Skills: Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Able to effectively present information to administrators, faculty, staff. Mathematical Skill: Able to work with mathematical concepts. Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
