Job Description

The Database Projects team is responsible for evolving the capacity, availability and efficiency of a highly complex global database structure. This is done in combination with the responding to the every growing business demands for accuracy and versatility in data capture, storage and usage. One of the current longer term projects is the enablement as a global service / private cloud roll out, looking to maximise the technology advantage and security this can create. Oracle is a key technology of the database platforms in the bank. There is expanding demand of Oracle support required for the growing projects across different business functions

Key Roles Responsibilities

As the project DBA, you should be able to master the technical fundamentals, as well as take consultative approaches to identify the root causes, provide and execute practical solutions to the various challenges in the database estate.

You are required to provide database support of deep technical expertise to all the stakeholders in a stable, productive and cost effective manner. You should be highly self-motivated, task oriented and capable of working independently in carrying out tasks and trouble shooting. You will be required to develop DBA automation toolkit and standard processes to improve the stability and efficiency of database service.

- Perform logical and physical designs, implements and supports new and existing databases supporting enterprise business applications.
- Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system.
- Support Database as a Service / Private Cloud Rollout Globally - Service based approach to providing database services
- Proactively monitor and make strategic plans to address issues to improve service stability.
- Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
- Provide technical support and resolve outage in a short turnaround time.
- Actively engage with key stakeholders to ensure different objectives are aligned and assist stakeholders by providing specialist skills and knowledge as required
- Develop automation tools / standard processes

Qualifications Skills

- Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Information Technology or Engineering-related discipline with extensive Oracle DBA experience
- Excellent Proficiency on Oracle DBA 9i onwards including Oracle 10g/11g RAC
- Expert in Backup / Restore / Load data/unload the data, Query/Performance Tuning, dataguard, Clusterware/ASM and OEM
- Experience of database shared service / private cloud service model
- Oracle Certification, preferably OCP
- Strong communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills. Good project management skills. Work well within a team. Motivated, self starter.
- Experience in investment banks or other financial institutes (preferred).
