JOB SUMMARY Contributes to the development and maintenance of IT enterprise data/information architecture, standards and practices. Take the lead role in establishing and designing the data model and standards for the enterprise. Be a constant advocate for enterprise information and technology vision, strategy, standards, and processes. Collaborate with system architects/engineers, software architects, design analysis and other to understand business or industry requirement to drive the most optimal solutions. Provides consultation for broad areas of technology to projects efforts within various IT areas or external service providers. Maintains knowledge of external industry trends and standards. DETAILS Major responsibilities include: Expert/lead technical role. Defines and plans data/information architectures for enterprise systems. Works on multiple projects as a project leader or as the subject matter expert. Works on projects/issues of high complexity that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments. Coaches and mentors more junior technical staff. Level D Provides consultation for broad areas of technology to project efforts within various IT areas/ or external service providers. Maintains knowledge of external industry trends and competitors. Contributes to the development and maintenance of IT enterprise data architecture and standards. Responsible for enterprise wide data/information architecture, and balances the need for access against security and performance requirements. Sets and defines IT data architectural standards and practices. Ensures that infrastructure architecture and design are flexible and support the business needs. Facilitates consistent business analysis, data acquisition and access analysis and design, Database Management Systems optimization, archiving and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security and change management at the enterprise level. Defines data/information architecture standards, policies and procedures for the organization, structure, attributes and nomenclature of data elements, and applies accepted data content standards to technology projects. Participate and contribute in selecting/developing solutions that are aligned with the business needs and requirements. Contributes to the development and maintenance of IT enterprise data/information architecture, standards and practices. Provides consultation for broad areas of technology to projects efforts within various IT areas or external service providers. Maintains knowledge of external industry trends and standards. If assigned to the BASEL project, may be assigned formal supervision of 3+staff. Supervision of staff include the following duties: Responsible for directly supervising staff, including interviewing, hiring staff and the termination of staff; recommending salary changes, job promotions; setting work hours, conducting counseling /performance reviews, and planning of the staff s work. Responsible for ensuring staff comply with all wage and hour regulations. This includes reviewing employee timecards for accuracy and ensuring all meal and rest breaks are adhered to. Required Typically has 7 to 10 years of experience with large and complex database management systems. * Technology Platform Administration * Repository Administration * Code deployment * User administration * Production and project support * Oracle, SQL Server databases * File transfer protocols (ftp, sftp, IBM GenTran) * Unix knowledge (AIX, Solaris, Linux) * Windows Knowledgeable in most aspects of designing and constructing data architectures, operational data stores, and data marts. Focuses on enterprise wide data modeling and database design.
